01. Problem

The company was about to begin a new round of fundraising. The goal was to present a cohesive, professional brand and more importantly think strategically about the messaging and structure of the site. We identified VC’s as our primary user. How do we quickly convey the promise of the company without oversimplifying the groundbreaking technology they’re producing, but also not getting too into the scientific weeds.

02. Research

To understand the user I talked with System1’s leaders. They are established experts in the field who understand the venture capital mindset and of course have unique insight into the company.

Insights:

Brand: The common themes I heard from my interviews were things like: “Welcoming but serious. Convey the cutting edge technology we’re working with”. These would be the starting point for the brand explorations.

Site: The question that came up repeatedly was “How do you build a better drug”? We decided on the idea of leading with a problem and using the site to show how System1 solves it.

03. Exploration

To understand the user I talked with System1’s leaders. They are established experts in the field who understand the venture capital mindset and of course have unique insight into the company.

Brand:

I developed 3 directions presented in style tiles to show how brand elements would feel in application.

Wireframes:

I worked through different ways to structure the page. Leading with the problem “The drug discovery process is broken”, these structures answered the question while introducing users to the company.

04. Visual design

Using our chosen direction. I developed a modular system of elements to build out the high fidelity design.
